Regulating short-term rentals In Lisbon
| Resumo: | Home-sharing platforms such as Airbnb are often criticized for driving real estate prices high and thereby fostering gentrification. Therefore, countries around the globe try to regulate short-term rentals. Also Portugal did so by implementing the Law n.º 62/2018 which empowers city councils to put into effect their own policies. Consequently, Lisbon is about to define its own regulation. Other European cities have already made experiences with different regulative models and can thus provide useful considerations and implications for the case of Lisbon. |
