Pré-história e "antropologia cultural"
| Resumo: | A pré-história deve a sua existência a três “inspirações”: a histórica, no sentido de prolongar para trás no tempo a narrativa da vivência humana anterior à existência da escrita e do Estado; a antropológica, que permitiu, pela observação de culturas não europeias, perceber algumas afinidades entre elas e o que se imaginou ter sido o nosso passado ante-histórico; e a biológica, pelo contributo que a paleoantropologia física e a genética deram à compreensão de humanidades hoje extintas. Muitos são os problemas por esclarecer e diversas as perspetivas sobre a relação destas disciplinas entre si. Restringindo-me à antropologia dita “cultural”, tento aqui apontar sugestões interpretativas que poderão ser úteis para a construção de uma pré-história mais verosímil e interessante, hoje. Prehistory owes its existence to three “inspirations”: the historical, in the sense of prolonging back in time the narrative of human life before the existence of writing and the State; the anthropological, which allowed, through the observation of non-European cultures, to understand some affinities between them and what was imagined to have been our prehistoric past; and the biological, through the contribution that physical paleoanthropology and genetics gave to the understanding of humanities that are now extinct. There are many problems to be solved and many perspectives on the relationship between these disciplines. Restricting myself to so-called “cultural” anthropology, I try here to point out interpretative suggestions that may be useful for the construction of a more credible and interesting prehistory today. |
