How purpose-driven leaders define purpose and perceive its influence on leadership, strategy, and culture

Resumo:The aim of this study is to examine how purpose-driven leaders define purpose and how their perception of purpose shapes their views of leadership, strategy, and culture. To answer this question, primary and secondary research was conducted. This paper first gives a literature review on the matter as an overview. Second, the evaluation of twenty interviews with purpose driven leaders are analysed according to a grounded theory methodology. The findings indicate that purpose is a motivator, philosophy, and practical tool promoting alignment and authenticity at work. Consequently, this study allows a better understanding of purpose as a concept and its influence.
