Scenarios for the future of the German carbon capture and storage industry by 2045 and strategic implications

Ver documento

Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:With the increasing emphasis on climate change mitigation strategies, the permanent capture and storage of CO₂ has emerged as a significant solution. Therefore, this research explores what the future of the German Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) industry looks like in 2045. Scenario planning of the Intuitive Logics School guides the methodology. Theoretically, the work extends the literature on scenario planning for pre-operational sectors whilst practically it gives guidance on future-proof strategies for CCS stakeholders. The four scenarios illustrate potential future developments by examining the interplay between two key uncertainties ‘European Emission Trading System Price’ and ‘Degree of Market Liberalization’.
