Climate change and food security in Guinea Bissau
| Resumo: | This paper investigates the impact of climate change in the unique context of Guinea-Bissau. Examining local perceptions, characteristics that determine the population’s understanding of climate change are investigated. Results highlight that the poorest suffering food, income, and water insecurity realize the extent to which they are affected. Further analysis shows that changing climatic conditions contribute to a perceived deterioration in agricultural conditions and dissatisfaction with environmental efforts. This fosters a broader sense of mistrust in the president and government. Consequently, climate change is perceived as a pressing concern in Guinea Bissau, calling for effective adaptation measures and heightened political attention. |
