Program "via verde do AVC" : analysis of the impact on stroke mortality

Ver documento

Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:ABSTRACT - The program ‘Via verde do AVC’ has been implemented in Portugal since 2005, with the objective of reducing mortality by stroke. Mortality rates from stroke have been decreasing, but no studies have been done measuring the link between this trend and ‘Via verde do AVC’. This study aims to assess whether the program has achieved significant health gains. We rely on two data sources: individual level hospital data on ischemic stroke admissions and regional level stroke mortality rates. For both types of data we find no evidence that ‘Via verde do AVC’ had a statistically significant impact on ischemic stroke mortality.
