The evolution of the concept of sustainable competitive advantage: a literature review
| Resumo: | The present paper is conceived to assess whether or not the sustainable competitive advantage is still achievable and how the concept changed. The literature review of RBV, dynamic capabilities approach and exploration vs exploitation tradeoff underlines the evolution of the concept over time. All the frameworks analyzed stress the importance of the concept although indicating different causes. In addition, the exploitation vs exploration idea may provide a way to reconcile the other theories. The literature review suggests that the sustainability of competitive advantage is a valid concept even when the firms face environmental changes. |
