The personality characteristics of managers in times of crisis: a systematic literature approach

Resumo:Coping with crisis is becoming increasingly important for leaders all over the world. Identifying people with a high potential in this field can be decisive in dire circumstances; this work addresses the issue of personality qualities of crisis managers. Thus, a systematic review of the literature was performed using the PRISMA protocol and a SPIDER table. Results show that predominantly relational skills and character traits lead to good crisis managers. These results impact research since crises are becoming more frequent in daily business and globalization. For practitioners in HR, this work means that the recruitment of crisis managers can be simplified to look for relational skillsets in applicants and to raise those by explicit trainings
