Cinematic Pedagogy: Enhancing Emotional Engagement and Critical Thinking in Education
| Resumo: | This dissertation seeks to answer two central questions: (1) To what extent is cinema an effective pedagogical tool in English Language Teaching (ELT) and (2) How can film be integrated into curricula to maximize its impact on student learning and engagement. By examining film’s ability to enhance emotional engagement, stimulate critical thinking, and provoke reflection, the study aims to demonstrate how cinematic content can be used effectively in classroom settings. Through a review of existing literature, case studies from various countries, and practical teaching strategies, the research highlights how film literacy contributes to the development of media analysis skills, cultural awareness, and the exploration of complex social issues. The dissertation further suggests curricular design and methodologies that optimize the educational impact of cinema, offering teachers practical approaches to improve student engagement in ELT contexts. |
