The Impact of Wage Dispersion in Football Teams Performance: An Overview of the Big-5 European Leagues of Football

Ver documento

Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:The main objective of this study was to analyse the effect of wage dispersion within a team in their performance. A panel data dataset of the Big 5 European football leagues teams in the seasons 2013/14 to 2018/19 was used. From previous similar studies, there is no evidence of a consensual result. In this project, a U-shaped relationship between the inequality salary measures and the logarithmic form of points percentage is concluded. In this sense, the results show that medium values of dispersion seem to lead to worst performances, while smallest and highest wage inequalities lead to the best ones.
