Ver documento

Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:This study examines the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) on Project Management, with a specific focus on the evolving role of the Project Manager and the contribution of new Gen AI-enabled approaches to team performance. Through a combination of literature review and semi-structured interviews with professionals from IT (Information Technology) and Industrial Departments, it captures both theoretical perspectives and lived experiences, offering a grounded understanding of Gen AI adoption in real-world organizational contexts. The findings reveal that Gen AI is transforming the Project Manager’s role by automating administrative tasks, such as scheduling, reporting, and documentation, thereby enabling a greater focus on strategic leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement. However, the adoption of Gen AI remains uneven, shaped by professional roles, individual attitudes, and organizational maturity. Team performance is enhanced through automation and information access, yet the importance of emotional intelligence, trust, and communication remains central. This study challenges the overly optimistic narrative found in literature by exposing contextual nuances and introducing new takeaways, such as the non-linear relationship between seniority and AI readiness. It also emphasizes the need for Human-AI collaboration, supported by training, governance, and ethical defenses. Future research is encouraged to adopt mixedmethods and cross-sectoral approaches to broaden understanding. Ultimately, this study affirms that Gen AI will not replace Project Managers but redefine their roles in more hybrid, adaptive, and strategic ways.
