Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:This thesis investigates the role of socioeconomic factors in learning disparities between public and private schools in Portugal, using PISA data and the Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition technique. In Portugal, as in many other countries, disparities in educational outcomes between public and private schools persist despite ongoing efforts to promote educational equity. Our findings reveal that the performance gap narrowed between 2018 and 2022, largely due to a decrease in socioeconomic factors in private schools resulting from the expansion of vocational courses. This study underscores the significant influence of socioeconomic factors on educational outcomes.
