Ver documento

Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:Disasters related to natural phenomena have been affecting the agricultural sector. When extreme events reach agricultural areas they damage crops, the economy, and the availability of and access to food, thereby impacting food and nutritional security. In order to guarantee the availability of food for their people, countries have adopted actions for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). This study analyses DRR actions aimed at the resilience of food security. Qualitative literary research was carried out on what has been done to adapt and maintain food security in the face of disasters. Actions undertaken in India, the Philippines, Guyana and Africa should be noted, along with programs and projects developed in Latin America and the Caribbean, and attention is drawn to cooperation between different nations. It was concluded that the incidence of a disaster contributes to food insecurity, interfering in the economy of countries involved and in their populations’quality of life. Therefore, investing in management for DRR is also investing in resilience for food security.
