Socio-environmental vulnerability in the face of mining projects

Ver documento

Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:The objective of this work is to present a discussion on the topic of socio-environmental vulnerability when confronted by mining ventures, defined as the first condition for a serious, in-depth analysis of the real state of places and people at risk. It is believed that by considering the condition of vulnerability, even before talking about the condition of risk, it should be possible to anticipate and prevent risks and, consequently, situations of danger and crisis, too. Methodologically, a survey of works that address the issue, both vulnerability and risks and dangers that can affect people and places, was carried out. It is understood that investing in social vulnerability studies prior to the onset of risk conditions is a way to promote what we call risk anticipation and prevention. This means that lives and territories can be protected and saved in the event of the occurrence of any disasters.
