Síndrome do gato paraquedista: estudo retrospetivo de 81 casos
| Resumo: | A “síndrome do gato paraquedista” é a designação usada para descrever o conjunto de lesões sofridas por um gato após uma queda ou salto vertical de dois ou mais andares de um edifício. O presente estudo retrospetivo possui uma amostra de 81 gatos, recebidos de urgência no Hospital Veterinária Bom Jesus após um episódio de queda, entre Abril de 2019 e Setembro de 2021. Desses pacientes, 48,1% eram animais jovens adultos (mediana: 13 meses de idade). Do total de quedas registadas, 69% ocorreram do 2º ao 4º andar, maioritariamente nos meses de Maio, Julho e Agosto (58%) e durante o período noturno (61,7%). As lesões respiratórias.e orofaciais são as mais comuns, sendo o período médio de internamento 3,9 dias. Apenas 3 animais (3.7%) não evidenciaram qualquer tipo de lesão. A taxa de sobrevivência foi de 98,8% e a taxa de reocorrência de 21%; Feline high-rise syndrome: retrospective study of 81 cases ABSTRACT: High-rise syndrome is the term used to describe the set of injuries sustained by a cat after falling of a building from two stores or higher. The present retrospective study includes 81 cats with HRS, brought to the Bom Jesus Veterinary Hospital after a fall, between the period of April of 2019 and September of 2021. Of these patients, 48.1% were young adult animals (median: 13 months of age). Of the total number of falls recorded, 69% occurred from the 2nd to the 4th floor, mostly in the months of May, July and August (58%) and during the night period (61.7%). Respiratory and orofacial injuries are the most common, with an average hospital stay of 3.9 days. Only 3 animals (3.7%) did not show any type of lesion. The survival rate was 98.8% and the relapse rate was 21% |
