Errante : Desordem Digital (Dis)funcional na Autonomia e na Arte
| Resumo: | ERRANT - Digital (Dis)functional Disorder in Autonomy and Art proposes an artistic research based on the corruption of digital contents, in this case images and videos, through a heuristic approach of autonomy in computational creation. The object of study was established in 2018, from the resulting productions – Oblique Strategy and WAV(E) - presented in the online project page: http://www.errante.net. It was through an experimental and ambiguous exploration of the behavior of digital error, that I reflected its promising revelations, starting from the assumption of a self-governed production of the machine. I relied on computational perspectives from several areas of study that relate the unpredictability, mutability, and degeneracy of digital content with the notion of autonomy. From the progress and impact of digital evolution, I understand, in unraveling the error, that autonomous behaviors are only simulated. The result, predetermined by the protocols of the medium used, is calculated through the mathematical laws of computer science. Although I do not admit the autonomy of computational creation in its entirety, I come to recognize, in the collaboration of tasks with the device, as in the resolution and reproduction of the error, the hypothesis of promoting innovation and the creation of new opportunities. I take here, as an area of future relevant research: the loss of autonomy of the artist in the field of digital production and the reflection of a scenario of creative coproduction between the artist and the device. In summary, this study contributed with artistic, philosophical and scientific interventions, to define the benefits of error processes that affect the notion of digital autonomy within the framework of art. The potentials of computational error in the field of art here are defined by the improvement of creative and innovative strategies and by the reflexion of autonomy production issues in copyright and creative context |
