Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:About 6% of upper gastrointestinal endoscopies reveal gastric polyps, mainly of the hyperplastic type. These may be located at the gastroesophaseal region and were only described 21 pediatric cases. The polyps may cause a variety of simptoms, of which abdominal pain is the most commum presentation. Despite the etiology is not fully understood, it is thought to be connected with the Gastroesophageal Reflux disease and Reflux Esophagitis. These polyps are diagnosed through upper gastrointrestinal endoscopy and may be treated by endoscopic or surgical techniques or with proton inhibitors. In this assignement a pediatric case with a hyperplastic polyp of the gastroesophageal region is going to be described as well as a theorectical revision of the subject. Also, it is proposed a path for the diagnosis and treatement of these polyps.
