Análise e caracterização do sector industrial de fabrico e comercialização de embalagens . Perspectiva presente e evolução.

Resumo:This work covers the Sector of Manufacture and Trade of Packagtng. We intend to characterise a sector which is segmented by the materials used namely. paper/cardboard, glass, metal ( steel and aluminium ) and plastic packaging. To each type of industry / material, corresponds a sub-sector. This is a very dynamic and competitive sector, as is show throughout this dissertation. in the analysis made to each sub-sector. The analysis carried out is based on the 5 Force Model of Michael Porter. The assessment of each industry sub-sector was completed by the identification of the opportunities, the threats. the strong and weak points. Finally. this dissertation, based on the investigation and research made. and on the opinion of t e most relevant and important economic agents in the sector, tries to outline some of the factors which may decide its future. The sector is made up of traditional industries, such as the producers of glass packaging. and the modern industries, those based on packaging produced in new and recently developed materials, like plastics. The difference between the old and the new, between the needs and requirements to be fulfilled for each type of packaging and the state of its technological development. are a few of the numerous and multiple aspects which model the lively competition that exists in this sector. The environmental issues in all their aspects, simultaneously. embody both the opportunity and the threat that must be conquered and/ or overcome. This is one of the most pressing and actual issues. Due to the dimension of the sector, undoubtedly, the theme selected has turned to be rather ambitious. nevertheless, the author of this dissertation has guided his efforts with the objective of presenting a detailed panoramic of the present and probable future of this interesting industry.
