Espelho meu espelho meu como me perceciono eu : a visão dos adolescentes portugueses sobre o seu corpo
| Resumo: | The objective of this study was to analyze the perception of the body image of Portuguese adolescents. A total of 6997 Portuguese adolescents (3378 boys) attending the 6th, 8th and 10th years of schooling in mainland Portugal were enrolled in the Health Behavior in School aged Children (HBSC) study. The teens were asked about their opinion about their body. The boys were more likely to have higher body satisfaction (OR = 1.2, p<.05) and adolescents with normal BMI (OR = 3.7, p<.05) 2.4, p<.05) and having a waist perception similar to their peers (OR = 3.1, p<.05) are more likely to have greater satisfaction with their body. Practice a sufficient weekly physical activity practice increases the probability of greater body satisfaction (OR = 1.4, p<.05). The results obtained are in line with several investigations and reinforce the need for health promotion campaigns directed at young people. The perception of the body image of adolescents has been positively associated with gender, BMI, not being on diet and practicing exercise. |
