Problemas de conservação da pintura de cavalete : o acervo da Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa (FBAUL)
| Resumo: | Today, the painting collection of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (FBAUL) has a vast and wide-ranging heritage, whose collections have been permanently enriched. The collection includes numerous paintings, divided into three rooms. This dissertation focuses on room 3.44, which holds FBAUL's Contemporary Painting Collection. In order to understand the collection's history and formation, the technical and material characteristics of the works and the agents of deterioration were analysed. Due to the fact that they had not been studied and inventoried, inventory records and a diagnosis of the state of conservation were created, in accordance with the painting inventory standards, in order to update knowledge of the FBAUL collection. We analysed 390 paintings produced after 1960, a group of paintings made by students of the Faculty during their teaching time, at the end of their course and as offers to the Faculty. We assessed the conditions of the room where the works are stored and checked the conditions of the room by measuring the intensity and type of lighting, monitoring humidity, temperature and pest control. The objectives of the research were: to inventory, characterize and quantify the constituent materials and techniques, the causes of deterioration and the degradation factors that led to the damage to the paintings. At the same time, a system for tracking the state of conservation in colour was defined for quick identification and essential for defining intervention priorities. During the process, due to the poor state of conservation of numerous works, preventative measures were taken and proposals put forward to improve the conditions of FBAUL's Contemporary Painting Collection. |
