Resumo:Stage lighting began even before the invention of the electric lamp. Since Ancient Greek theatre where the light of fire started to be used for artistic effect until the invention of the incandescent electric lamp, theatre has used light to create artistic effects with the intention of enchanting the public. Nowadays, with the intense competition between stores, the management of visual merchandising has been important for their financial results. Thus, commercial lighting design has gained importance in the concept of store design. With the objective of turning the space attractive to the public, commercial lighting must create effects that help in the product’s purchase. In this way, with stage lighting firstly using light as artistic effect and conveyor of sensations, it is possible that stage lighting has affected other forms of lighting. In this dissertation, it will be discussed the influence of stage lighting on commercial lighting
