Rare breast cancer: adenoid cystic carcinoma treated in a cancer reference center between 2001 and 2013
| Resumo: | Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignancy that arises mostly in salivary glands. Although rarely described, it has also been found in the breast. Despite the similarities between ACC in the two locations, these triple negative carcinomas differ in incidence and clinical behavior. In these report we describe six cases of breast ACC that were archived at Serviço de Anatomia Patológica, Instituto Português de Oncologia Francisco Gentil – Lisboa, between 2001 and 2013 and we review the published data about the presentation, treatment and follow-up of this rare cancer type. |
