The marchioness of Alorna at Palácio Marquês de Fronteira : a starting point for discussing literary tourism
| Resumo: | Literary tourism has become increasingly popular in the last decades and it shows no sign of slowing down. This report explores what literary tourism entails and the possible reasons for its growth and attractiveness. Additionally, there is a brief survey of the history of this branch of tourism in the United Kingdom, as it continues to be one of its main developers, and a quick review of what is already done in Portugal and what could be improved. On the second part of the report, the activities performed at the Fronteira Palace in Lisbon, as part of the internship, are described, focusing on the main project which was to create a literary tour around the figure of the Marchioness of Alorna. She was an important woman author of the 18th century and she lived in the Fronteira Palace for some periods of time, making it the perfect place to develop a tour like this. Lastly, some suggestions are given as to what the future of literary tourism in Portugal could be, focusing on the Fronteira palace as the main developer and the Marchioness of Alorna as the main figure. |
