Resumo:The purpose of the present study was to investigate the influence of physical qualities in padel. Physical performance was compared, according to sex, position, and level of the participants. Physical data from 21 female (age, 31.2 ± 7.4 years; body mass, 61.8 ± 3.6 kg; height, 166.9 ± 4.9 cm; experience, 5.5 ± 3.0 years; training volume, of 4.4 ± 3.7 hours/ week, Mean ± SD) and 60 male (age, 28.7 ± 5.7 years; body mass, 76.6 ± 7.7 kg; height, 180.4 ± 5.2 cm; experience, 7.4 ± 5.6 years; training volume, 5.6 ± 3.2 hours/ week, Mean ± SD) padel players of the first, second and third tiers of the Portuguese national ranking, was obtained during the 2022 season. Testing included: Isometric grip strength, isometric mid-thigh pull peak force (IMTP), vertical jump height (CMJ), change of direction time (COD), and five and ten-meter sprint times. Significant differences between the female 2nd and 3rd tier for the 5m sprint test were (p= 0.028) and for the Modified 505L test (p= 0.030). For the male group, differences were observed between 1st and 3rd tier for the Modified 505L test (p=0.003), and for the 2nd and 3rd tier for the Modified 505L test (p=0.032). Concerning playing position, no significant differences were found. Our findings suggest that acceleration and COD capabilities between1st and 2nd tier players differ from 3rd tier players.
