Resumo:The water use optimization and the efficient management of an irrigation system are critical in order to maximize farmers’ yields and profits, as well as to achieve an environmental sustainability. The purpose of this dissertation is the analysis of the physic and economic water productivity on Huinong Irrigation District, in the Yellow river basin, Northeast China, where both water scarcity and excess are a reality. This analysis was prepared using SEDAM model, which was developed to simulate the demand and delivery using multicriteria analysis to support decisions, regarding the delivery management improvement as well as the decrease of water demand. It was possible to analyse the use and impact in improvement scenarios and the utility and productivity values. In conclusion, with an improvement of the drainage and delivery systems it is possible to significantly reduce the non-beneficial water use and increase the beneficial, leading to an increase of the physic and economic water productivity. Keywords: water use, irrigation, water productivity, SEDAM model.
