Antologia visual e temática do gótico
| Resumo: | The first Gothic novel appeared in 1764, when Horace Walpole published The Castle of Otranto, using the subtitle 'Gothic Story'. He published the novel under a pseudonym, fearful of the response it would attract. The public, unlike the critics, loved it. Thus, the popularity and influence of Gothic themes and aesthetics resurfaced in all forms of art. In literature, this Gothic influence emerged during the Romanticism, which was described as a double movement made up of two opposing, but at the same time, inseparable currents. The Romantic-Gothic literary movement reached its peak between 1750 and 1820, where countless novels and short stories appeared in which suspenseful stories were explored, often using supernatural elements. This research aims to develop an editorial object – a book – where the Gothic influence of 1750-1820 will be explored, exalted and illustrated in the literature of later years, applying characteristics of visual poetry. The combination of these two topics from the artistic world will give rise to a set of stories that will be explored in a diverse and unusual way. In the first stage of development, there is research and comparison within Gothic literature and also an investigation of visual and concrete poetry in order to identify its characteristics. The second phase will be the application of these characteristics in the short stories chosen and analyzed. |
