The main purpose of this study was to assess the standard of care given to these patients in resource-limited countries and to elaborate a systematic research of previously published reports on this matter. . Results showed that most fistula patients are young, illiterate and from poor backgrounds and lack of access to healthcare is still the main obstacle to properly preventing this condition.
