Ver documento

Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:The aim of my paper is to analyse the fictionaI work of the contemporary British writer Helen Simpson (1959). Simpson is perhaps best known for being a short story writer, aiming her attention at contemporary urban themes. l will be focusing in particular on Simpson's most recent collection of short stories entitled A Bunch of Fives: Selected Stories (2012). The coIlection is especially interesting because it gathers five stories taken from her five previous short story publications - A Bunch of Fives becomes an interesting case study not only because it displays the writer's quest for a unity of subject-matter in the stories but atso because it evinces the potentiaI of the short story as a genre.
