The effectiveness of the proprioception training in ankle rehabilitation : a systematic review
| Resumo: | Ankle injuries accounts for 15% to 30% of all sport injuries. Due to that in sport training is used external supports to improve ankle stability and proprioception to maintain athletic performance. The purpose was to evaluate the effectiveness of the proprioception training of ankle rehabilitation. Were systematically searched all major electronic databases to identify studies that met all inclusion criteria, and two reviews assessed the methodological quality of the included studies. Thirty studies were analysed. Nine compare the differences between the application of braces and tape, ten studied the results of the application of tape, and eleven studied the application of different braces. There are insufficient data to allow viable conclusions to be draw on the differences between ankle brace and ankle tape application. Based on the best evidence available, it appears that the use of brace or tape improve ankle stability and proprioceptive acuity, being tape more expensive, as well as the effects reduces during vigorous exercise. It is also verified that as bigger a lesion on proprioception acuity more limited are the effects when using external support. |
