The impact of internal teams on recognizing and capturing opportunities in mergers and acquisitions
| Resumo: | The purpose of this master thesis is to evaluate the impact of opportunity recognition on opportunity capture. Factors like a decentralized team approach and centralized team approach are supposed to moderate this relationship. Researchers haven’t given the importance needed in the pre-merger stage and underestimate the ability of teams to impact the capturing opportunities of determined company. A questionnaire was developed was developed to test these hypothesized effects. The sample aggregate 82 observations from members that could be involved in M&A deals within the last five years. The literature review shows that opportunity recognition is connected to opportunity capture. The findings of the quantitative study suggests that high levels of opportunity recognition have a positive effect on opportunity capture. Moreover, decentralized teams have a negative impact on opportunity capture. |
